Well I'm just a little late this month. Last month started with a bang. There was a ugly prom dress party. This is Karen, Susie and Ethel, three of our work campers. Holly wanted to participate but I wouldn't let her wear my old prom dress. It wasn't a big group for this but there was plenty of food and it was all good.
On one of our trips to Sedona we went to a little shopping area and had lunch and did a little window shopping. I saw these two fountains and just thought they were very interesting.
Went for a little trip on some fire roads and found Stoneman Lake at 7500 feet. We started this trip in the desert and ended up in snow. Of course we did this the day after we washed the Jeep. By the time we got back the Jeep was covered in mud like a Jeep should be.
This is the road down to the lake. Good thing we have 4-wheel drive, I needed all the help I could get to get back up. It was snow, ice and mud.
This was another one of our forest service road trips. Yup you guessed it, just washed it the day before.
This is Bruce and Chris with Holly. They stayed at the park and we hit it off. We did a little exploring together and went to dinner a couple of times. This was at Palatki Cultural Site which is just outside of Sedona. This site has cliff dwelling ruins plus some very well preserved pictographs and petroglyphs.
A little further up the road is the Honanki Cultural Site. This site also has ruins of cliff dwellings and some intricate rock art. They say to be careful of rattlesnakes in the area. Some believe they are protectors of the ancient spirits.
This is the main part of the dwellings. You can see that these were not as high up the cliff face as others we have seen where they needed ladders to reach the dwellings. These were a lot easier to access.
There are all kinds of art all over the rock face in this area. Very interesting to look at all of this. You can tell by the layout of the walls that are left standing that a lot of the art was inside of the rooms on the walls...and to think we got in trouble for writing on the walls.
Here is Holly checking out one of the rooms. As you can see it was a nice sunny day, one of the few we had in February. The whole month of February was cold and rainy. It wasn't what we wanted but we still went out and enjoyed the area.
Here she is enjoying a nice day in Sedona with the beautiful red sandstone in the back ground.
We drove down to Phoenix to watch a spring training game between the Seattle Mariners and the Milwaukee Brewers. As the Tigers train in Florida, we cheered on the Mariners. Holly is from the Seattle area and Sue who is one of our good friends lives there. If you can't cheer for the best go with the second best (sorry Sue). The Mariners won 6-2.
That's all for now. Hopefully I can get this posted before I have to start the March post. Our time here is almost over and we have still been busy so there will be some more good stuff for next month. I promise to be on time next month I hope. I'm easily distrac SQUIRREL.
