Schulenburg Texas, April 2015

Well, better late than never.  April was a slow month after Chloe's graduation from basic training. Before Krista and Mikayla headed home we went to Natural Bridge Caverns by Austin. Here is MJ getting all ready to go spelunking. It was a nice little stroll in the damp and cool underground.

The guide said we would be going down the equivalent of a 15 story building. Then of course that was the easy part. After that we had to go back up the equivalent of a 15 story building. Just a nice little walk to get everything moving.

We saw some really nice formations and a large underground lake. I was able to get a nice shot of MJ and Grandma. I think MJ needed to rest, you know how easy those young kids wear out.

These are the famous Blue Bonnets of Texas. These flowers pop up all over in the spring. We saw whole fields of them. Of course those Texans think that Texas is the only place that they grow. We had some in the park and when we were weeding the flower beds. Penny walked up and pulled a bunch of them up and I had to hurry up and replant them before anyone saw what happened and arrested for her vandalism.

Holly and I went to a AAA team ball game in Round Rock which is north of Austin. The Express is a AAA team for the Texas Rangers. They were playing the Tennessee Red Birds. It was a beautiful stadium. We had some really good seats, it was a double header and the Express won both games. The sunshine was fantastic as the past week in Schulenburg was just  gloomy and rainy.

This is the mascot for the Express and the park is called the rail yard, go figure. This is the mascot for the, wait for it, yes you're right....The Red Birds. We had a great time. We walked around the park between games and they had almost everything to eat that you can imagine. Of course I had my usual chili dog and and Holly had the nachos grande (they weren't very grand) and topped that off with funnel cakes. We would of rather had elephant ears but we have come to the conclusion that they are nonexistent west of the Mississippi. 

We took one last trip down to the Gulf before we had to depart Texas and start heading home. The kids (yes I know they are dogs but they don't understand that they are) just love the beach and Ruby loves chasing sticks into the water. When we said it was time to go Ruby went and hid in the water but we found her when she came up for air. Well that's it for Texas. We departed on April 25 and headed for Shreveport Louisiana for a 4 day RV rally. After that it was back to Michigan, but that's next month's blog. Remember, if you see a big motor home go by, wave, it could be us but if it isn't, that's okay, we've found that most rv'ers will wave back. That's just how we roll.
